Animal Panic 22:43
I had a little bird Its name was Enza I opened the window And in flew Enza You are the upper I am the lower We are teeth Bread lines or panicked bread buying Nothing in between Stay away or physically comfort me Not interested in a mean You are the upper I am the lower We are teeth You are the upper I am the lower We are teeth Persistence is decadence Eventual pestilence Fear, an accelerant that threatens endurance Sustainability was always a dream Manifesting as multiple schemes Hope, a recurring theme in the cycles of entropy When should I panic?(in the cycles of entropy) When should I shoot?(in the cycles of entropy) What should I horde?(in the cycles of entropy) And when should I loot? Won't catch it in the woods, but you can catch something else A will to quarantine, true social distancing We have a dog, but not a leash We panic upon its release Our loving mutt's not what we think We live where it sharpens its teeth We have a pig, it eats anything It floods our pen with its offspring We think they're cute, we should rethink Our lives now controlled by their stink Sometimes it just takes a plague(x4) We have a bird, we've clipped its wings It stays in its cage and never sings Depends on us for the food we bring Unaware it'd die if set free Sometimes it just takes a plague(x4) I wear the mask(x5) It scares the children Where each child wears a different mask I wear the mask(x8) I am the upper You are the lower We are teeth I am the upper You are the lower We are teeth I had a little bird Its name was Enza I opened the window And in flew Enza

What happens when all the comfort goes away? Instinct reappears It's never as pretty as the powerful say But they keep their mirrors Pass on their fears The saddest thing in life is wasted talent Go inside, stay inside Let everything eat you and see where it gets you The best things in life become the worst They are separate, unique, and diverse Invisible fire consumes the earth And all talent burns cursed What happens when all the comfort goes away? Instinct reappears It's never as pretty as the powerful say But they keep their mirrors Pass on their fears The saddest thing in life is wasted talent Go inside, stay inside Let everything eat you and see where it gets you The best things in life become the worst They are separate, unique, and diverse Invisible fire consumes the earth And all talent burns cursed I keep my distance as a way of life I've never thought twice I keep my distance as a way of life I've never ever thought twice Too smart to trust becomes too smart not to Much faster than you want it to Find a maniac or two to look after you And eventually take your family Better to become the maniac Put the i in panic Better to become the maniac Put the i in panic Put the i in panic When should I panic? When should I shoot? What should I horde? When should I loot? When should I panic? When should I shoot? What should I horde? When should I loot? I wear the mask Too smart to trust becomes too smart not to Much faster than you want it to Too smart to trust becomes too smart not to Much faster than you want it to So many lists in so many minds Who should contract and die So many answers to be heard About the meaninglessness of justice A virus has no list

Viral Lore 09:36
A virus has no list A virus has no list A virus has no list No list Fallout's always en vogue Under it all a god-like rogue Men scamper about with affirming smiles Holding knives while they collogue Paranoia is all the rage The delusional offer you their sage The wise men need not possess shame Where the animals prefer their cage Paranoid-it might be my disguise, my problem Then again, you have made stories about Sodom And everything works out in your lovely stories You are the upper I am the lower You are the upper I am the lower We are teeth You are the upper I am the lower You are the upper I am the lower We are teeth Just little yellow teeth Bite Chew your food Bite Chew your food Chew your food We have a dog, but not a leash We panic upon its release Loving mutt is not what we think We live where it sharpens its teeth Where it sharpens its teeth Its little yellow teeth We have a dog, but not a leash We panic upon its release Our loving mutt's not what we think We live where it sharpens its teeth Where it sharpens its teeth Its little yellow teeth Told of a dream An economy The brightest of stars Just look at ours Madonna shines bright Collecting the stories Viral lore Retelling the stories Viral lore Viral lore Viral lore I wear the mask Do you wear the mask? Persistence is decadence Eventual pestilence Fear, an accelerant that threatens endurance Endurance Won't catch it in the woods, but you can catch something else A will to quarantine, true social distancing

about

The writing process for this album began on the first night of the quarantine protocol in play for the covid-19 virus. I knew I was going to need a place to manage my (logical and illogical) paranoia and concerns over this tragic period. The lyrics were intentionally spontaneous, rambling, paranoid, and topical. Given the seriousness of the situation, of any new viral unknown, I do wish to address an element of the lyrics that could be misconstrued as 'radical.'

Present nowhere in my spontaneous outbursts of sickness is there a desire for violence or needless aggression. Some of the lyrics mirror the sickness present in the media(social and traditional) and, therefore, are taken to extremes. Repetition was intentionally used to mimic the bombardment of sick ideas and the unnecessary pitting of citizens against one another that was immediately present.

This release is not political, but personal. Even with its manifesto style dementia, it was written with empathy. It was not written with blame, but with fear. Creating a bizarre album seemed the best way to proclaim that fear and to put into check my own arrogance and/or ignorance concerning how to proceed in society. It was not written to diminish or mock the fear others may or may not have, but to relieve myself of my own confusion. It is not commentary on any government's handling of this outbreak, nor does it have anything to do with the events in society that have followed. I view this set of recordings as an artistic expression of a psyche pummeled out of nowhere by a new form of tension.

Along with repetition of lyrics, this is also the first album I've ever written that uses musical motifs. I felt it was time to fully submerse myself in the waters of my prog rock appreciation. I used repetition of riffs as a way to explore melodic/harmonic options, and I challenged myself every step of the way as a guitarist and writer. Like any album I write, it was largely at the mercy of the albums I was binging on when the desire to write struck me. Those albums were by Rush(rip Neil Peart), Yes, Pink Floyd,Camel, Genesis, Sigh, Root, Nechochwen, The Chasm and Schammasch.

This album was not recorded or mixed professionally and is best experienced in headphones.
